The Valleywise Community Health Center – McDowell is a space where all are welcome. You can always find compassionate care and ongoing support.

Like anyone, transgender people need preventive care to stay healthy and acute care when they become sick or injured. Some may also need medical care to treat gender dysphoria. Transgender people’s health care is both widely stigmatized and misunderstood. Those unfamiliar with the health needs of transgender people might portray transition-related care as “cosmetic” or a choice. The fact is that the medical necessity of transition-related care is overwhelmingly recognized by medical experts as effective and necessary for many transgender people. Valleywise sees the need to assist out trans community in obtaining and providing a safe and compassionate care.

Arizona Trans Youth and Parent Organization (AZTYPO)

Trans Youth | Parents of Trans Children

AZTypo.org

A family support group for families with gender diverse children. We provide a supportive environment for children, adolescents, and their families to explore issues of gender identity.

The group is held once a month and is comprised of a peer support group for the parents and a supervised interactive social/play group for the youth and children. As we grow, the youth and children will be broke down further into two or more groups. Siblings are also welcome in the social/play group.

Parents, Legal Guardians and Extended Family (Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc) can discuss the challenging issues, raise questions, seek and share resources, and listen to the experiences of others. By talking to each other and sharing experiences; a family can best support their children in their gender identity and gender expression.

All are welcome along the spectrum of acceptance and understanding. This is safe place to express fear and confusion as well as ask questions.

You are not alone.

The meetings take place in Central Phoenix on the 4th Sunday every month in a confidential location.
